Dr. Janet Adamski:  After growing up in Fort Worth, Texas, attending Emory University (Atlanta, GA) and graduating from the University of Texas (Austin) with a BA in Government, Dr. Adamski completed work on a Master’s and Ph.D. in Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia (Charlottesville).  Her work there focused on International Political Economics, paying special attention to European integration.  Her thesis, “Models of European Economic Integration,” applied the Heckscher-Ohlin-Samuelson theorem to the monetary integration then proposed for the European Community.  The subsequent dissertation, “Moments of Truth: The Treaties of European Monetary Integration” looked at traditional understandings of sovereignty as existing at the level of the state, tracing changes to this conception through the lens of the European decision to construct a supranational central bank.  Dr. Adamski’s research on Europe continues, with recent (2006) publication of an edited volume, Old Europe, New Security, as part of the Ethics and Global Politics series published by Ashgate Press.  Before coming to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2005, she taught at Baylor University (Waco), Southwestern University (Georgetown), the University of the Bosporus (Istanbul, Turkey) and Sweet Briar College (Sweet Briar, VA).  In addition to leading classes in International Relations and Comparative Politics, Dr. Adamski has worked closely with the Model United Nations, Model Organization of American States and study abroad programs, as well as sponsored the Political Science Association, and Sigma Iota Rho and Pi Gamma Mu Honor Societies.
