Dr. D. Audell Shelburne, Professor of English, has taught at UMHB since 1998. He has taught in the lower level Honors Program since its inception. He has been co-sponsor of Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society, from 1998-2008. He has served twice as Secretary of the Faculty Assembly (2002-2003 and 2003-2004), as President of the Faculty Assembly (2007-2008) and was Past-President (2008-2009). He was nominated for the Trustee Award for Research and Scholarship in 2001 and received the Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2005. Shelburne served as an Executive Committee member of the John Donne Society (2004-2006). He has been an assistant textual editor on the Donne Variorum project since 1999 and is currently working on Volume 5, the Verse Letters, of the Variorum Edition of the Poetry of John Donne, an international scholarly effort partially funded by the National Endowment of the Humanities. He has published an article on the text of Twicknam Garden in The John Donne Journal (Volume 17, 1997). Last February he presented a paper at annual conference of the John Donne Society on the text of Donne's "A Valediction of the Book." Since 2002 Shelburne has been chief editor of Windhover: A Journal of Christian Literature. He also directs the annual Writers' Festival, an event that brings writers from across the country to Belton each January.
