Dr. Brady Peterson
Brady Peterson taught eighth grade English in Austin, Texas during the mid 1970s. That was probably his most important job. Other occupations include building houses, working in a lumber yard, doing traffic analysis at the National Security Agency, writing failure analysis reports for a defense industry company, and teaching at the University of Texas and at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. He considers himself a writer. He writes essays, poems, a novel he’s been working on for years, and a speech or two. His poems have appeared in Windhover and New Texas. Another poem is scheduled to be published in Nerve Cowboy this November. At the University of Texas he was introduced to studies in rhetoric by James Kinneavy. Thirty years later Kinneavy continues to be a major influence in his thinking life. He has five daughters. Being their father should be considered his most important job, but his wife does most of the work. He just enjoys the ride. At UMHB he has taught Rhetoric, Creative Writing, Composition, American Literature, and Novels.
