Dr. Anita Coffey
Dr. Anita Coffey is an Assistant Professor of Spanish in the Department of Modern Foreign Languages at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Belton, Texas. Dr. Coffey received her B.A. in Spanish from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas where she taught as adjunct and visiting professor from 1992 to 1997. Her M.A. and Ph.D. in Spanish are from Texas Tech University. She wrote “Six Archetypes in Selected Novels of Ana Maria Matute” while teaching at Angelo State University. Prior to her association with UMHB, Dr. Coffey developed, facilitated and directed student summer study abroad programs at McMurry and Lander University. She has studied abroad in Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica and Guatemala for both graduate work as well as language, literature and cultural studies. Her research interests continue to involve the development of archetypes in Hispanic American novels by women.
