Kim Kirkpatrick-Thornton joined the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Exercise and Sport Science faculty on April 1, 2012. In addition to her faculty responsibilities in EXSS, Kirkpatrick-Thornton will serve as the EXSS Activities Courses Coordinator and will also serve in a newly created role as UMHB’s Wellness Matters Education Coordinator, collaborating with Human Resources to offer wellness seminars and exercise classes specifically to meet the needs of UMHB faculty and staff.
Kim taught and coached in public schools for 19 years before coming to UMHB. She made stops at Weatherford, Hillsboro, Robinson, Midway and Lorena before coming to UMHB as the Head Women’s basketball coach where she served from 2005-2012.She guided the Cru women to six American Southwest Conference Championship Tournaments advancing to the ASC Championship Game in her inaugural season and leading the UMHB women to the only ASC West Division title in the program’s history during the 2009-10 season. Kim’s husband, Philip runs a lawn business and they reside in Eddy TX.
