Lem Taylor has been an Assistant Professor at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor since the fall of 2008. He attended Abilene Christian University as an undergraduate student and played football while majoring in Exercise and Sport Science. Lem completed his MS degree in Exercise Physiology at TCU as a departmental assistant while conducting his thesis research in muscle physiology and graduated in May of 2003. In the fall of 2003 to August of 2006, he completed his PhD in Exercise, Nutrition and Preventive Health and completed his dissertation work in the area of muscle signal transduction in response to resistance exercise under his mentor Dr. Darryn Willoughby. Following completion of his PhD studies, Lem began his professional career that led him to UMHB. Currently, Lem serves as the Pre-Physical Therapy program coordinator in the EXSS department at UMHB and is the Director of the Exercise Biochemistry Lab that is a component of the Human Performance Lab. Lem also volunteers his time to work with the UMHB women’s basketball team to help with their strength and conditioning and nutritional counseling. In June of 2011, Lem began his 3 year term as the President of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. Lem is an active member of various organizations in the field of sports medicine including the American College of Sports Medicine, the Texas chapter of the ACSM, the ISSN, and the NSCA. Lem is also an avid golfer, and still plays competitive rugby for Fort Worth Rugby Club. On August 6th, 2011, Lem married his wife Vanessa in Fort Worth, Texas. Lem and Vanessa live in Hewitt with their 3 pets Lola, Deegan, and Daisy.
