EXSS Internship: Recreation

The Recreation Leadership internship experience is designed to provide the student with valuable career training at a location similar to the career choice.  It is considered the culminating requirement for the student in the Recreation Leadership field.   The internship affords the student the opportunity to acquire practical skills, knowledge and experience in the field of Recreation and Leisure.  In addition the students will have the opportunity to begin creating a list of valuable personal career contacts.  The intern will be provided with a list of approved internship locations but the intern can also suggest possible internship sites based on their personal career goals.  Final agreements and arrangements are subject to approval from the program director.  Evaluation and direction will be given from the program director with appropriate supervision provided by an on-site professional.  The intern is expected to complete 300 hours of practical field-based experience during their junior or senior year.
