Bio

Dr. Rubí Ugofsky-Méndez completed her BA at the University of Texas Pan American. She obtained her MA at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She completed her PhD in Spanish Literature also from UNL. Her area of expertise revolves around Spanish baroque poetry. Dr. Ugofsky-Méndez has presented papers in connection to her subject of expertise for over a decade at numerous prestigious conferences such as MACHL and KFLC. Dr. Ugofsky-Méndez is currently teaching Spanish and Spanish American civilization and literature at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. In addition, Dr. Ugofsky-Méndez is the Editor in Chief of Primeros escrutinios culturales y literarios, an academic journal for undergraduate research connected to Spanish and Spanish American topics, affiliated with and based within the Department of Foreign Languages at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Dr.Ugofsky-Méndez is interested in Spanish and Spanish- American women writers, contemporary poetry in Spanish and the use of technology in the classroom. In addition, Dr. Ugofsky-Méndez enjoys teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages classes as well. Dr. Ugofsky-Méndez also serves as the advisor to the Spanish Club and Cru Catholic Student Organizations. She is the proud mother of four children, three young adults and a teenager, and the wife of a NAVY veteran. The family worships at St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Killeen, TX.
