Bio

Dr. Rebecca Scoggin McEntee is in her first year of teaching Journalism and Photojournalism at The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Previously an Assistant Professor at South Dakota State University, Dr. McEntee received her Ph.D. from The University of Texas after working as a photo editor for six years, and staff photographer for fourteen years at the Austin American-Statesman in Austin, Texas.  Prior to working at the Statesman, Rebecca’s career included photography, videography, writing, editing, and television news reporting with a variety of media and state organizations that included the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas State Health Department. Her visual communications research and dissertation has focused on the editing of war imagery portraying U.S. women in combat.

Research Interests

Her visual communications research and dissertation has focused on the editing of war imagery portraying U.S. women in combat as well as some of the differences in effects from vivid and non-vivid writing.
