Dr. Heejun Choi

Dr. Heejun Choi was born and raised in Daegu, South Korea. As his grandparents were strong Christians, he was a part of the church ever since he was born.
He spent most of the time from elementary school to high school in Daegu, his hometown. After graduating from high school, he attended the Korean Air Force Academy to become a soldier. Upon completing his undergraduate studies at the Korean Air Force Academy, he served as a logistics officer until he retired from the Air Force in 2013. During his service, he obtained an M.S. degree in Information Technology from POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Louisville with the support of the Korean Air Force. Furthermore, he worked in a variety of positions, such as Logistics Manager, Director (as a researcher) of a software development center, and Full-time faculty member at the Air Force Academy.
He joined the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2014 Fall and taught graduate courses such as Database development, Project management, Information systems security, and Analysis and Design of systems at MSIS. Currently, he teaches undergraduate students fundamental and advanced Computer Science courses such as Database and application, Objected oriented programming, Programming languages (Compiler construction) and so on.
He lives with his wife and daughter in Austin and his son lives in Boston for dental school. He currently attends Austin Korean Presbyterian Church in Austin, where he serves as a deacon. He sincerely hopes that God will use him and his family in the future to spread God’s word around the world with their talents.
Currently, he is trying to actively conduct research on variety of fields such as Big data, Cyberseucrity, Digital forensics, Networking, Bioinformatics, Image processing and so on.
