The study of science and the humanities is the foundation of the curriculum at most American colleges and universities. These studies prepare students to engage in a wide range of issues which lead to a fulfilling life and responsible citizenship.
In addition, most employers value the skills which a study of science and the humanities fosters: effective communication, scientific inquiry, mathematical literacy, critical thinking, global perspectives, and diligent research.
The College of Humanities & Sciences offers

Many of these majors have elementary and secondary education options where students can earn the credentials to teach these subjects in public schools.
The Pre-Law program and the Pre-Medical Professions program are housed in the College of Humanities and Sciences. In addition, faculty members in the College teach a large portion of the UMHB Core Curriculum: Biology, Composition and Rhetoric, Chemistry, Foreign Languages (American Sign Language, French, Japanese, Italian, & Spanish), History/Political Science, Mathematics, Psychology, Sociology and Speech.
