The College of Christian Studies is part of a unique undergraduate study program made possible through the Green Scholars Initiative. Under the leadership of Dr. Renate Hood, one of the faculty members known as a Mentor-Scholar in the program, students who are involved in this initiative experience hands-on research and handle some of the very earliest known New Testament papyri.
Participation in biblical manuscript studies enables students to contribute to the ongoing efforts at arriving at a close understanding of the source texts of the Bible. Students have opportunities to join faculty at scholarly conferences and present at UMHB's Scholar's Day. In March 2012, two of our student members of the Green Scholar's Initiative presented their latest research at a regional scholarly conference in Dallas Forth Worth.
