Dr. Stephen Von Wyrick
People often ask me: “Why do you teach at UMHB?” First, I am committed to my students who deserve the highest quality Christian education. I am excited about being part of that experience with them. Each student is unique and special. Second, my family has deep, historical ties to UMHB, the oldest Baptist college in Texas. Our family’s ties to Texas go back to the days of the Texas Revolution, and the establishment of the Republic of Texas. Great, great, great aunts on both sides of our family attended Baylor Female College. Third, when I was a child, our family supported Mary Hardin Baylor College through church donations during times when the college faced severe financial crisis. Serving as a professor at UMHB is more than a job or a career; it is a joy.
