Alexis DeGraaf and Arleth Subiria, Texas Bioscience Institute students, conducted Applied Chemical Research with Dr. Ruth Ann Murphy, UMHB Chemistry Department Chair, over the summer. The projects were selected by the students, who helped design them. Alexis' topic was "Which Liquid Foundations Are Best For Varying Skin Types Based On The Foundations' Physical Properties?" Alexis is planning to be a Chemical Engineer. Arleth, who is considering a career as a Dentist or Nurse Practitioner, studied "Physicochemical Properties and Efficacies of Selected Oral Hygiene Products." Dr. Murphy said, "These students worked capably and effectively to design their research, analyze the results, and present them in poster format. These are remarkable achievements!"
